Eugène Guinot's account of the German spa resort Baden-Baden, issued in English translation in 1853 with wood-engraved illustrations after Tony Johannot and Eugène Lami, aimed at British travellers and armchair tourists. The plates and vignettes show Rhine-valley towns under cathedral towers, villas and terraced gardens, forest roads leading to castle gates, and crowds on promenades and bridges, drawn in fine grey line with soft cloud and foliage texture usable as landscape backgrounds and small scenic spots.
