The Wednesbury Papers. [Reprinted from the “Wednesbury Herald” and the “Midland Advertiser.”
Local history and antiquarian essays by Frederick William Hackwood, collected from the Wednesbury Herald and Midland Advertiser and printed by R. Ryder in 1884 for readers in the Staffordshire town. The plates are small wood-engraved chapter ornaments: a circular medallion holding a bird in a landscape, framed by symmetrical sprays of leaves, fuchsia and trumpet flowers, reusable as headpieces, dividers and logo frames.
