Montezuma's Daughter. [With illustrations
An 1893 adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, published in London by Longmans & Co. for the popular fiction market, set during the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The 25 captioned plates are tonal wash drawings printed as halftones: night scenes under moonlight, crowded sword fights on temple steps and ship decks, Aztec feather headdresses and Spanish armour, useful for silhouetted crowd groupings and dark atmospheric backgrounds.
