Mrs S. C. Hall's 1848 London fairy tale of a changeling child, issued as an illustrated Victorian gift volume with wood engravings by Maclise, Creswick, Paton and other Royal Academy hands. Vignettes bleed into the text column without frames: winged figures in cloud, a kelpie queen at a waterfall, bare winter trees, deer, and fairy swarms drawn in fine open line.
