A history of the town and parish of Nantwich, or Wich-Malbank, in the county palatine of Chester
A local history of Nantwich in Cheshire, compiled by James Hall and printed for the author in 1883 for subscribers and county antiquarians. The plates here are square wood-engraved initial letters, their white capitals set against dotted grounds of curling acanthus and flowering vine, giving designers a full alphabet of drop caps and dense foliate fill patterns.
