More Colonial Homesteads and their stories
A popular history of American colonial estates and the families who held them, written by Marion Harland (Mary Virginia Hawes Terhune) and published by G. P. Putnam's Sons in 1899 for general readers and house-visiting tourists. The plates are soft grey halftone photographs: clapboard and brick homesteads seen across lawns and through bare winter branches, a county jail, a village street, and furnished interiors including a manor chapel, useful for period architecture reference and muted photographic backgrounds.
