Wayside Pictures, Hymns, and Poems ... With a portrait of the author
Wayside Pictures, Hymns, and Poems is an 1874 London collection of devotional and rural verse by John Harris, a Cornish miner who wrote for a popular religious readership. The plates are wood-engraved drop initials wrapped in briar roses, lilies, harebells and blackberry canes, with hatched or stippled letterforms — usable as decorative capitals, floral spot ornaments, or traced line motifs.
