An illustrated popular history of Spain written by James Albert Harrison and issued by Lothrop & Co. in 1881 for general and family readers. The plates are tonal wood engravings of Moorish architecture — the Alhambra from a distance, the balcony of Lindaraja, the arcaded exterior of the Córdoba mosque — alongside staged historical episodes such as Columbus landing in the New World, useful for arabesque wall patterns, horseshoe-arch profiles and grouped figure compositions.
