A Victorian novel by Mary Emma Hattersley, published in London in 1879 for general readers of domestic fiction. The nine images are small wood-engraved ornaments printed among the text: single roses with buds and toothed leaves rendered in fine parallel hatching, plus a wider headpiece of a duck among reeds and water lilies, usable as chapter openers, tailpieces and spot motifs.
