A French illustrated travel account of two water cities, written by Henry Havard and published in Paris in 1876 with seven etchings by Léopold Flameng and Léon Gaucherel plus 124 wood engravings, aimed at general readers and armchair travellers. The plates are block-framed views set into text pages: Venetian canal landings with gondolas and moored boats, Amsterdam gateways, turreted brick towers and lamp-hung orphanage doors, all with small figures for scale, useful for architectural silhouettes, waterfront staffage and vignette framing.
