Inside Out Library

The History of Ireland, ancient and modern. Derived from our native annals, from the most recent researches of eminent Irish Scholars. ... With copious topographical and general notes

HAVERTY, Martin. · 1860 · 21 pictures

Martin Haverty's one-volume narrative history of Ireland, drawn from native annals and contemporary Irish scholarship and published in 1860 for general readers and students, with extensive topographical notes. The plates in the index are small wood-engraved tailpieces and ornaments rather than historical scenes: rose and forget-me-not sprays, a winged child half-hidden in dense leaves, a butterfly among ragged foliage, all usable as chapter-end spots, borders, or fine-line botanical motifs.
