The Earth? its physical condition and most remarkable phenomena
A popular account of physical geography and geology written by William Mullinger Higgins and published in London in 1855 for general readers and school use. The 73 wood-engraved figures are small diagrams set into the text: lettered cross-sections of tilted strata, eroded volcanic cones, stages of a waterspout, and tonal blots of cloud, all built from fine hatching and stipple that reproduces cleanly at small sizes.
