A Victorian novel by Mary Helen Holt (later Meldrum), issued in a revised edition by Anderson & Ferrier in 1884 for general British readers. The plates are small wood-engraved ornaments rather than scenes: buttercup and lily sprays, a roundel of roses in cross-hatched shading, and symmetrical scrollwork hearts, usable as chapter heads, tailpieces, monogram frames and repeat motifs.
