The Blue Dwarf. A novel ... Illustrated, etc
A cheap serial-issue melodrama published by Edward Harrison in London in 1861 under the pseudonym "Lady Esther Hope," printed in double columns with a half-page wood engraving dropped into the text. The cuts stage melodramatic set pieces — drawn swords in candlelit rooms, a struggle at a bedside, a scuffle outside a village church, three figures wrestling in a cellar — with eighteenth-century coats, wigs and full skirts, framed portraits and drapery, useful for figure groupings, period costume and hatched interiors.
