Geology and Terrestial Magnetism ... Third edition, with a new and illustrated introduction and appendix, twenty-nine plates, and numerous woodcuts
Evan Hopkins's 1865 third edition of a London treatise arguing a link between geology and terrestrial magnetism, issued with twenty-nine plates and woodcuts for mining engineers, surveyors and geological readers. The plates are fine-line engraved cross-sections of cliffs and strata with lettered captions and measured scales, alongside small woodcut blocks of hatched rock layers cut by fractures and marked with compass points and directional arrows — usable as ruled hatching patterns, diagram frames and hand-lettered annotation.
