A German travel journal of a walking tour in and around the Harz mountains, written by Carl Gottlieb Horstig and published in 1805 with sixteen engraved plates for readers following the route themselves. The plates are small tinted landscape views, captioned in script beneath the image, showing hilltop ruins and castle walls, overhanging rock ledges, shattered crags and massed foliage against pale skies — useful for soft grey-green tonal washes, silhouetted tree masses, and engraved rock texture.
