A five-volume set of outline plates by the artist Frank Howard, published by T. Cadell in London in 1833, retelling the story of each Shakespeare play scene by scene with printed quotations and descriptions for readers and drawing students. The engravings are pure contour work without shading: crowds of costumed figures, draped robes, raised arms and pointing gestures set against lightly sketched trees, walls and thrones, useful as line-only figure groups and gesture references.
