A three-volume illustrated history of Brussels written by Louis Hymans and completed by his sons Henri and Paul, published in Brussels in 1882 for Belgian general readers. The plates reproduce older engravings: wide panoramic city prospects with rolled cartouches and keyed legends, and rows of hooded mourners leading caparisoned horses under armorial banners lettered with provincial names, useful for heraldic flags, procession figures and skyline silhouettes.
