A topographical view book of Italy issued by Blackie & Son in 1864, pairing steel engravings after Clarkson Stanfield, David Roberts, Prout, Harding and Brockedon with Camillo Mapei's essay on Italian politics and religion, translated for British subscribers. The plates are tonal landscapes: hill towns, harbours and ruins seen across foregrounds of trees, rocks and small figures, useful for atmospheric skies, layered distance and engraved foliage texture.
