The History of Jackson County, Iowa ... Illustrated
A subscription county history of Jackson County, Iowa, issued by the Western Historical Company in 1879 for local landowners and businessmen who paid to appear in it. The plates are bust-length lithographic portraits of bearded and clean-shaven men in dark coats and bow ties, softly stippled against blank grounds with engraved signatures beneath, useful for period faces, collar and beard types, and facsimile autographs.
