The Brotherhood of the Coast. [A romance
A boys' pirate adventure romance by David Lawson Johnstone, issued in 1895 by the Edinburgh and London firm W. & R. Chambers for young readers of buccaneering fiction. Thirty-two full-page pen-and-ink plates, each captioned with a line of dialogue, show swordfights, arrests by soldiers, lantern-lit cabins and crowded ship decks, giving designers dense crosshatched figure groups and period costume in high-contrast line.
