The Paradise of the North ... With ... illustrations, etc
An 1892 boys' adventure novel by David Lawson Johnstone, issued by the Edinburgh and London firm W. & R. Chambers for young readers, set in an imagined Arctic land of Norse-descended tribes. The plates are captioned pen-and-ink line drawings: fur-clad crowds greeting sailors on ice, reindeer-drawn sledges, smoking volcanoes and fjord cliffs, useful for hatched figure groups and open-line landscape backgrounds.
