Ships, Sailors, and the Sea, etc
An 1887 Cassell popular handbook on ships and seafaring by R. J. Cornewall-Jones, written for British general readers and boys curious about rigs, naval service and life at sea. The plates are line engravings of sailing vessels in profile on open water, each captioned by rig type, plus tonal scenes of warships under sail, giving clean silhouettes of masts, spars and sail plans against plain sky.
