A nine-volume-style Victorian collected edition of Ben Jonson's plays and poems, edited by William Gifford and revised by Francis Cunningham, published in London in 1875 for general readers and students of English drama. The illustrations are outlined wood-engraved chapter initials in which winged putti, perched birds and curling acanthus foliage frame a plain letterform, giving designers a set of open-line drop caps that reproduce cleanly at small sizes.
