John Keble's sequence of devotional poems for the Anglican church calendar, first issued in 1827 and reprinted here by Suttaby & Co. in 1883 for ordinary churchgoing readers. The two plates are steel engravings: a stipple portrait of Keble under a facsimile signature, and an ornamented memorial cross in Hursley chancel framed by a border of inscribed lettering, useful for Gothic cross forms, engraved lettering panels and clerical portraiture.
