White Poppies. A novel ... With illustrations by R. A. Bell
A three-volume-era Victorian novel by May Kendall, issued in London by Ward & Lock in 1893 with illustrations by Robert Anning Bell for general fiction readers. The plates gathered here are chapter headpieces and tailpieces: bilaterally symmetrical line-drawn sprays of poppies and acanthus, curling scrollwork, and a cartouche flanked by putti over a lion mask, usable as spot ornaments, rule breaks, or title-page centrepieces.
