The History of Keokuk County ... Illustrated
A subscription county history of Keokuk County, Iowa, issued by the Union Historical Co. in 1880 for local subscribers whose names and portraits paid for the volume. The plates are lithographic bust portraits of bearded settlers and officials, vignetted into soft stippled ovals on blank ground, each captioned with a facsimile signature — useful for period faces, hand lettering, and portrait framing.
