A Victorian novel by Mary Rosa Stuart Kettle, issued as an "Author's edition" by J. Weir in 1882 for British circulating-library readers. The plates are wood-engraved chapter ornaments: symmetrical horizontal vignettes built from urns, rosettes, scrolling vine, acanthus and hanging pendants, usable as headpieces, tailpieces, dividers and spot ornaments at small sizes.
