A Victorian tale by Mary Rosa Stuart Kettle, published in London by T. Fisher Unwin in 1890 for general fiction readers. The plates in the index are all impressions of one engraved chapter ornament: a symmetrical urn with acanthus crest, scrolling stems, two flat rosettes and trailing blossoms, drawn in fine black line on cream paper, useful as a headpiece, divider or repeating border unit.
