Westward Ho! ... With illustrations by C. E. Brock
An 1896 Macmillan edition of Charles Kingsley's Elizabethan sea-adventure novel Westward Ho!, illustrated throughout by C. E. Brock for late-Victorian general readers. The 51 pen-and-ink plates stage Tudor figures in ruffs, cloaks and slashed doublets against stable doors, town walls and candlelit interiors, with captioned quotations beneath; useful for hatched line drawing, crowd groupings and period costume detail.
