Great African Travellers from Mungo Park to Livingstone and Stanley, etc
A compiled account of African exploration from Mungo Park to Livingstone and Stanley, written by William Henry Giles Kingston for British young readers and issued in London in 1874. The plates are full-page wood engravings printed sideways, with captions running up the margin: porter caravans strung across open country, hunting parties scrambling over rocks, a village burning, figures massed in silhouette against finely crosshatched hills and sky.
