A French travel account of Central America, written by J. Laferrière, consul for the Republic of Salvador, from journeys made between 1866 and 1875 and published in Paris in 1877 with 35 plates after drawings by E. A. Guillon, aimed at readers at home. The plates are tonal lithographic views: harbour towns seen from wooded hillsides, lake and volcano panoramas, and single-storey colonial streets with tiled eaves and arcaded facades, useful for soft grey landscape backgrounds, horizon layering and vernacular architectural detail.
