LEIGH, Egerton - Major · 1867 · 22 pictures

Ballads and Legends of Cheshire is a county folklore collection gathered and edited by Major Egerton Leigh and published in 1867 for English antiquarians and song collectors. The plates are engraved music: two- and three-stave systems of melody lines with lyrics set under the notes, plus small capitalised song headings — usable as notation texture, cut fragments, or lettering with sung text.
