History of the County of Fife, from the earliest period to the present time ... With numerous engravings ... on steel ... from original drawings ... by J. Stewart
A three-volume county history of Fife by John M. Leighton, published in Glasgow in 1840 for Scottish antiquarian and gentry subscribers, illustrated with steel engravings after drawings by James Stewart. The plates are tinted topographical views of country houses, abbeys, coastal towns and river valleys, framed by heavy foreground trees, with small figures and cattle for scale; useful for foliage silhouettes, skies and estate architecture.
