An 1893 R. E. King reprint of Charles Lever's military novel Charles O'Malley, a comic Irish tale of army life and the Peninsular campaign, issued for popular English readers with a full set of etched plates in the Phiz manner. The forty-two pictures are loosely hatched vignettes with soft oval edges: crowded infantry ranks with bayonets and banners, mounted officers on hillsides, tavern brawls and firelit interiors, all usable as figure crowds, silhouetted battle horizons, and vignette frames.
