Luttrell of Arran. ... With illustrations by “Phiz” [i.e. H. K. Browne
Charles Lever's Irish novel Luttrell of Arran, published in London in 1865 with fifty-four plates by Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"), Dickens's etcher, made for the Victorian serial-reading public. The etchings combine crowded interiors and graveside gatherings rendered in fine cross-hatching with one full dream vision of cherubs and floating figures in cloud; useful for costumed crowd groupings, vignetted oval borders, and engraved script captions.
