Thrilling Life Stories for the Masses
A cheap-format collection of moralising popular fiction issued in 1892 by the Thrilling Stories' Committee in London, sold for mass evangelical and temperance reading among working-class audiences. The illustrations are pen-and-ink line drawings set into dense two-column text, often in shaped or scalloped frames, showing 1890s domestic interiors, street and carriage scenes, and figures in bustles and top hats, each captioned with a line of spoken dialogue.
