Thrilling Life Stories for the Masses
A cheap London anthology of sensational moral tales, published by the Thrilling Stories' Committee in 1892 for a mass working-class readership, illustrated throughout with captioned line drawings. The pictures are sparse pen-and-ink vignettes of one or two figures in parlours, sickrooms and at garden gates, drawn with open hatching and no frame, giving designers cut-out period figures, dialogue captions in quotation marks, and blank-ground silhouettes of 1890s dress.
