Quicksands. A tale
Quicksands. A tale is a novel of 1871 by Anna Lisle, the pen name of Annabella Crawford, issued in London for the circulating-library readership and preserved in the British Library. Its 53 plates are repeated engraved chapter headings: paired corner blocks of rosettes and trefoil leaves joined by a thin scrolled rule above a Roman numeral, useful as line-art corner ornaments, rules and numeral settings.
