Explorations du Zambèse et de ses affluents ... Ouvrage traduit de l'Anglais ... par Mme H. Loreau, contenant 47 gravures et 4 cartes
French translation by Henriette Loreau of David and Charles Livingstone's account of the Zambesi expedition, published in 1866 with 47 engravings and four maps for European readers following African exploration. The wood engravings, drawn by staff illustrators after Livingstone's sketches, show low-horizon river landscapes, waterfalls and cataracts, and lines of porters and village groups under palms, with fine parallel hatching for water, smoke and haze that suits tonal landscape backgrounds and silhouetted figure groups.
