LOVCSÁNYI, Gyula. · 1881 · 56 pictures

A Hungarian topographical description and traveller's guide to the Vág (Váh) valley, written and published by Gyula Lovcsányi in 1881 with 54 original illustrations, aimed at tourists and local readers. The plates are small wood-engraved landscape vignettes, captioned with place names in Hungarian: hilltop castles and ruins above wooded gorges, riverside villages, spa buildings and broad mountain panoramas, drawn in fine parallel hatching that leaves pale skies and open foregrounds useful as vertical page-edge insets.
