A German picturesque travel album of Italy published about 1840, with steel engravings by Carl Frommel and H. Winkler after Frommel's paintings and drawings, plus folk-life scenes after Catel, Gail, Goetzloff, Mosbrugger, Weller and Pinelli, and text by W. von Lüdemann and C. Witte for northern and southern Italy. The plates are wide landscape views with framing trees, lakes, bays and hill towns, small staffage figures in the foreground, and genre groups of peasants, carts and street corners, useful for engraved tonal skies, tree silhouettes and figure vignettes.
