A technical manual on mining by Arnold Lupton, issued in a new edition by Longmans & Co. in London in 1899 for engineers and mining students. The 463 line figures are labelled diagrams — shaft sections in elevation and plan, cage-catches, ventilation scaffolds, rope-boring rigs, winding drums — with hatched strata, callout letters and hand-lettered captions usable as engineering ornament.
