Unequally Yoked
A three-volume-style Victorian domestic novel by Mary Anne Needell, published in Edinburgh and London by Oliphant, Anderson & Co. in 1891 for the circulating-library reading public. The illustrations are small pen-and-ink landscape vignettes and narrow banded headpieces trickling streams, reedy banks, wooded lakeshores, grazing cattle on open pasture drawn in loose open hatching that reads well enlarged as chapter ornaments, endpapers, or line-art page borders.
