GRIFFITH, Richard John - Sir, Bart, MACCOY, Frederick - Sir, K.C.M.G · 1862 · 40 pictures

A descriptive catalogue of Carboniferous Limestone fossils from Ireland, compiled by Frederick M'Coy for Sir Richard Griffith and reissued in 1862 with locality lists for the Geological Society of Dublin, addressed to geologists and fossil collectors. The twenty-nine lithographic plates crowd numbered specimens onto open white grounds — brachiopods, bivalves, gastropods, coral and crinoid fragments — drawn with fine ribbing and soft tonal shading, with engraved Latin captions beneath, useful as shell silhouettes, ribbed textures, and specimen-grid layouts.
