Pendle Hill in history and literature
A local history of Pendle Hill in Lancashire, compiled by James Mackay of Malvern and issued by G. Davies & Co. in 1888 for readers of county topography and its literary associations. Small wood-engraved landscape vignettes sit in ruled rectangular frames with leafy sprigs and flowers overlapping the border, alongside a banded headpiece of heraldic roundels and a reclining classical figure; useful as frames, spot scenes and rule-and-foliage ornament.
