A subscription county history of Macon County, Illinois, issued by Brink, McDonough & Co. in 1880 for local landowners and businessmen who paid to appear in it. The plates are bust portraits of bearded men in dark coats and bow ties, worked in wood engraving and soft lithographic crayon against blank grounds, several with engraved signatures below, useful for period faces, hatching textures, and stock nineteenth-century male types.
