A French local history of the towns of Saint-Amand and the château of Montrond, edited by C. L. Gustave Mallard with a preface by the Abbé Silvain Clément and issued in 1895 for regional antiquarian readers. The illustrations shown are line-engraved printer's ornaments in Renaissance revival style: triangular tailpieces with putti flanking shields, a mask head under a cornice with hanging swags, and symmetrical foliate scrollwork usable as page-end devices, dividers, or vector borders.
