The Queen of Ecuador. A novel
A novel by R. M. Manley issued in 1894 by G. Routledge & Sons in London for the general fiction-reading public. The plates are printer's ornaments rather than scenes: small line-engraved head- and tailpieces in which winged putti, grotesque masks and half-figures of women emerge from acanthus scrollwork, arranged as lozenges and downward-pointing triangles that a designer can lift as chapter dividers, spot ornaments or frame corners.
