A multi-volume survey of Britain's colonies by Robert Montgomery Martin, published in London around 1851 for merchants, emigrants and administrators, illustrated with steel-engraved maps of the Tallis type. The hand-coloured maps carry engraved scrollwork borders, seal-like medallions, and inset vignettes of harbours, waterfalls and local figures, supplying frames, cartouches, ornamental corners and small landscape scenes detachable from the geography.
